Under the dynamic leadership of Kashi Naresh (King of Varanasi) Dr. H.H. Maharaj Vibhuti Narayan Singh (महाराज विभूति नारायण सिंह्), the trust laid the foundation of Kashi Naresh Government Post Graduate College (KNPG) on 1st August, 1951 in Gyanpur. The KNPG College is Associated with Mahatma Gandhi Kashi Vidyapeeth, Varanasi. The National Accreditation and Assessment Commission (NAAC), a premier education body formed by the government, awarded 'B' Grade to the college as a token of appreciation and recognition.

Maharaj Vibhuti Narayan was the popular King of Benares (varanasi), a holy city located in the Indian state of Uttar Pradesh. He was the last king of the Kingdom of Kashi. The college was started with few students and has grown to a huge strength of students in last six decades. This progress is the result of its distinctive characteristic. KNPG owes its birth to the educational, cultural, & political aspiration of independence India. The early period of this instituton pulsated with the National freedom struggle. The teaching faculty of this institution provides  original dimensions to the concept and movement of Indian Socialism. 

Gyanpur, is the heart of Sant Ravidas Nagar Bhadohi. This is located at GT Road in west from 63 K.M. from Varanasi City and 64 K.M. from Allahabad City. It has been conncetd to Varanasi, Mirzapur, Bhadohi, Allahabad, Pratapgarh and Jaunpur Districts via roadways.  

The College have family of 105 Readers and 82 other peoples who are members of the college. Here, Students study in 21 graduation and 20 post graduation subjects, which are divided into 4 streams, Arts, Commerce, Science and Addition in this Educational (B.Ed) Stream. Before, The College was aasocicated with Beer Bahadur Purvanchal University, Jaunpur But From Academic Year 2009-10, It has been now associated with Mahatma Gandhi Kashi Vidyapeeth, Varansi. The College too have Educational department of Indira Gandhi National Open University (IGNOU), New Delhi.
